Dental Implants

Dental Implants were introduced around 30 years ago. With careful planning, they offer the most successful form of tooth replacement. We can replace individual teeth, multiple teeth with implant supported bridges, or even whole jaws of teeth on implants. Successful dental implants provide completely functional teeth that look like your natural teeth.

Exposure of Impacted Canine Teeth

An impacted tooth refers to a tooth that is ‘stuck’ in the gums and cannot come through (erupt) as a normal tooth would. The Canine tooth (cuspid or upper eyetooth) can often become impacted and require assistance from an oral surgeon to come through to the correct position.

Apicetomy

This is a surgical procedure to treat infection, abscess or cyst formation of the root end or tip. There is usually swelling, or pain and the tooth is tender or mobile. Antibiotics generally only offer temporary relief as the infection is coming from dead nerve tissue in the tooth root and not able to be removed with standard root canal therapy. Surgery aims to remove the root tip and infection and seal the root end.

Bone Grafting

In some cases, bone grafting is necessary to ensure the best result for your dental implant.

There are a number of grafting techniques to replace bone volume to allow implants to be placed. Synthetic bone is available for some areas of the jaw, but sometimes a piece of the bone is removed from the lower jaw in the wisdom tooth area that can be placed to fill in the bone defect. Surgery is usually performed with sedation and sometimes general anaesthetic. Most patients require a week off work.

Biopsy

As part of the range of services that we provide, we also offer biopsies. An oral biopsy is a medical procedure undertaken to remove a small sample of tissue from the mouth for analysis.

All on 4 Dental Implants

All-on-4TM Dental Implants is the most advanced method of tooth replacement, where a complete arch of teeth can be supported by only 4 or 5 implants in most patients.
